Intermission (Will you trust me?)

It was another calm evening, as the train made its rounds. In the back, there were two passengers, just sitting across from one another, clearly waiting for the other to make the first move. The green slime decided to bite the bullet, clearly wanting to take this somewhere.

“So…. I guess you’re still taking it all in? Or wait, you do believe me, right?”. Without answering, his brother gave a small nod, clearly deep in thoughts. Finally, after a few more minutes, he decided to answer. “You might have gotten better at lying, but sitting directly across from you, I can still clearly see when you’re lying. So, while I know that you weren’t lying, it’s still a lot to take in. And I know you’re not done, are you?” Thorn looked at his brother with a knowing gaze, clearly waiting for Prisma’s response. “You’re right, I’m not done yet. You still need to know what we’re gonna do next. And I of course need to know if you’re helping.” “I’m listening.” As the scenery behind the windows kept changing, Prisma started laying out his plan. The goal he intended to achieve, the steps he had taken so far and everything that was still needed.

“You know, I’ve heard many of your crazy ideas, but this is the biggest gamble I’ve ever seen you make. You don’t even have the second candidate picked yet. And you even dragged Snowy into this. Don’t you think she’s been though enough by now?” “No, you’re right, she’s been through a lot. And believe me, my original intention was to never involve her at all. But when I explained it to her, with all the flaws of course, she insisted on helping. I’m guessing part of her still blames herself for what happened back then.” “Ugh that child. Always blaming herself for things she can’t control. Is she… at least doing fine? I heard she couldn’t speak anymore.” Prisma looked out the window, watching the scenery a little, before giving an answer. “She’s doing… I wouldn’t call it fine. She keeps telling me she’s doing fine, but I know she isn’t. She sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat, just to go out training, thinking I wouldn’t notice. Whatever Imtre did to her, left more than simple scars. But she isn’t allowing herself to show weakness around me. You definitely need to talk to her.” “Little Snowy, always trying to be the strongest. You need to show me where she is, as soon as we’re done here. Maybe I can help. If Imtre hasn’t destroyed Snowy’s trust in me.” It was a valid question. Was Snowy still able to trust him, even if the god he served was the one that tortured her for hundreds of years? “Hey, she doesn’t blame you. And while I know that this is bad, she knows that you don’t stand for what Imtre did. While talking with her I actually learned that while Snowy was still living with us, both Imtre and Sequa often showed up in her dreams. And apparently even back then, that goddess showed only distain for her.” After receiving that information, an awkward silent fell between both of them once more.

“So, you know your plan is still suicidal, right?” A small chuckle escaped Prisma’s lips, as he heard his brothers simple statement. “God, at this point you sound like D.” To that Thorn just looked at him confused, clearly wondering who Prisma was talking about. “Oh yeah, you don’t know. Basically, before I got her, my mind kinda got split, probably as a delayed result of my experiment where I teleported my tower. The split resulted in 3 selves. Reason, Chaos and Destruction. Or how they called it, Creation, Chaos and Destruction. And even after I fixed it, those two remained in my mind. But not like I’m complaining about it, because it helps with planning if you instantly have two more opinions.” “I…” Thorn was clearly at a loss of words at the casual explanation he had just gotten. But that was honestly just so like his brother, so he would ignore that conversation for later. “Ok, so Mr. Detective got a powerup. Good to know. But back to the plan. You said the next step needs the Elysian Realm, right? How the hell do you plan on achieving your goal, if we both can’t leave this place anymore?” His question was valid. By cutting Thorns connection to Imtre he had basically closed the only door they had to enter the Elysian Realm for now.

“Oh brother, you’re so simple minded. Who said anything about leaving? Look, if we can’t get the into the Elysian Realm, then the only other option is of course to bring it here!” “Bring the Elysian Realm here? Oh, now you definitely lost it.” Prisma just leaned back, clearly enjoying the moment before he would explain his grant plan. “Oh, let me enlighten you brother. Remember that giant portal above my tower? Currently it’s still set to the Imaginary Realm. But if we make it’s target a little less specific. Zoom out so to say. Then were would it point?” If the target was less specific, then… “It would point directly at the Elysian Realm. I gotta give it to you, you actually managed to have a good plan.” Thorn finished his brother’s explanation, as Prisma smiled at him, clearly pleased with his plan. “Bingo. Just a little recalibration, and we’ll suck fragments of the Elysian Realm straight into this world.” “But wait… what about water from the sea of Quanta? A single drop could corrupt this entire world. That’s way too high of a risk.” Thorn was right. One single drop and this whole world with them still trapped would seize to exist. “As if I didn’t know that who do you take me for? That’s why I’ve been researching this world so much. With Sequa’s help and my research, the water will be diluted to a consistency where it can’t corrupt anything. And while it will still be harmful, we won’t have to worry about that possibly ending this world.” Prisma could clearly see the relief in his brother’s eyes to that response.

“Ok, it’s good to know that you’re not as reckless as you used to be. But I still have one last question, before we end this… meeting or whatever you want to call it. Do we tell the other’s what you have planned?” “Hell no, we don’t! Look, I can understand why you might think that would be a good idea brother, but I’ve only gotten so far by giving out limited information. We can’t just freely give out too much information, otherwise we… we could up with another Everlume situation. And I never want to repeat that.” As Prisma said the city’s name, Thorns body clearly stiffened before slowly forcing itself to relax again. “You’re right. I never want to repeat that. Especially not with Snowy here. So, the information stays between us?” “Between you, me and Snowy. The beaver knows a little bit, but also not everything. Until we find the perfect candidate, we’ll keep it that way.” With that last conversation finished, both brothers waited for the train to reach the station, finally moving towards the long-awaited reunion between father and daughter…
