Intermission (Project Nexus)

Inside a quiet Cabin in Universe 150120 you could see Prisma writing some kind of report. As he’s writing down every little detail for his next plan, as voice suddenly makes him look up. “Is she truly worth it?” Without even looking at the person standing next to his desk, he looked up his gaze wandering directly to Snowy who was sleeping in the bed in the other room, door wide open. “We both know she is. So why do you keep questioning it?” Before the other could answer, someone else appeared on the other side of Prisma’s desk. “Don’t be too hard on him C. He’s just worried.” His gaze went back to writing, before answering: “I thought we agreed that you won’t call me by that nickname anymore. You’re C after all.” “Well yeah, I am. Sorry, I just keep doing it out of habit. Feels weird calling you Prisma.” You could hear a big sigh from Prisma, before he finally put his pen down and looked at C. He was a slime like himself, but he was light blue and nearly wearing the same outfit as Prisma. The only differences were the colours, as C’s suit was grey and his hat had a white trim instead of Prisma’s red. “You wanna know what feels weird? The fact that you’re both here. I thought I was losing it when the others told me that I had acted pretty aggressive while I was literally talking to Sequa. And then just days later I see you two while writing my latest report as if you were always there.” His gaze changes from C over to the figure that was now leaning against the doorframe. A red slime in a deep black suit like the one he had worn to the funeral. “Well technically we were always there, weren’t we D?” C looked over at the red Slime. You could see D’s annoyance with both now looking at him, before starting to talk. “He’s right, we were always here. It’s not really our problem that you just couldn’t talk with us before talking with Sequa. Your connection to the Sea of Quanta was just too weak. But still the fact that she made me take over while talking to you is still ridiculous. Like why didn’t you take over C? Or better yet, why couldn’t we just be left out of that stupid fight against a goddamn ant?” His voice wasn’t hostile, but there was a clear tone of annoyance like this was beneath him. “Well, if I had taken over, Thorn could have found out that something was wrong. With you, it was easy to make him believe that Prisma was acting like that because of his connection to the Sea of Quanta. Also, D, you seem a lot more aggressive than normal. Any specific reason for that?” You could hear D starting to mumble, before increasing his voice: “Any specific reason? You already know the fucking reason! It’s because this idiot over there set his plan in motion, without even having a second candidate!” He was pointing at Prisma. And it was true. Prisma had been forced to set his plan in motion way earlier than planned, leading to the missing candidate problem. C looked over to him, before adding: “Well, he’s kind of got you there. You basically went all in in Blackjack without knowing the dealer’s card or even your second card. Quite chaotic and bold, if I do say so myself. Are you sure you’re not the real Chaos here instead of me?” Looking over at Prisma again, he was now rubbing his temples, clearly annoyed himself. “No, I still don’t know who’s best. And if you don’t like it, then why don’t you help me with that?” D instantly spoke up again: “Help, huh? Well obviously, Kleckser, Andre, Chuba and Wanderer all don’t qualify. We need someone who can at least somewhat qualify as a pure soul.” Another sigh escaped Prisma’s mouth. “Great help by just stating the obvious. What about you C?” “Oh, what about that beaver? He gives me great chaotic vibes and…” Before he could even finish his sentence, D’s hand connected with the back of his head. “Are you fucking stupid or just ignoring the danger on purpose? What if that Moon guy can take over Agusto’s body.” “D’s right C. Even if it’s just a possibility we can’t run the risk of letting a stranger into the Elysian Realm. And while I know that he couldn’t even talk to Agusto while he’s in the Elysian Realm, we’d run a giant risk every time Agusto left the Realm. So, we’re down to three candidates.” They all knew that all three could be possible for the plan, but they needed to make the right decision. C was the first to jump in again. “Well how about Kayden. She’s already a protector and belongs to a harbour world. So, she definitely knows a lot about power and the multiverse, making her pretty qualified, right?” D continued the statement. “But she’s also the one we’ve barely talked to. And we don’t even know if she’d be willing to make a sacrifice like that. Next up would be Iatros. She’s closely connected to nature itself already, and technically already has her own tree. And she’s definitely the purest soul out of the three.” Prisma picked up D’s observation. “But she’s also the least mature here. And while it’s true that she has the purest soul here, a child like her can be easily manipulated. Just look at the time when Kleckser got her to chase Agusto with a knife. Last of would be Timmy. She’s close in purity to Iatros, but a lot more mature. But she definitely has her own problems. And it’s clear that she’s set on going back to her friend.” They all went quiet after that. It was clear that each choice had their own problems and it would definitely take way longer to make the perfect choice…
