Case 31 (Burning the Night)

We met up during the night this time, as normally the bar is a lot more packed during the night. So, we went towards the Island. On the way we also realized that the conductors had started striking, as no train was working. I need to have a word with someone managing this soon. When we got to the Island, I paid our fee, before we went straight to the bar. There we started another conversation with Augusta, who was drunk again. She told us about Desmond getting some resources from an unknown benefactor and know attacking the fairies. He was now looking around for more sailors to join him in his raid. Now we had some options. Either help him, help the fairies, or stay out of this whole mess. We of course couldn’t just stay out, so that option fell through. Now, Neric wanted to join Desmond, as the last time we did work for him, he got paid. The others of course wanted to help our fairy friends. Kleckser even pointed out that without the fairies, Neric would have no gambling game. That made him change his mind of course. Meanwhile, Kleckser also had an idea of his own, before we help the fairies. As Desmond is a pirate Lord, we needed a good point, as to why we attacked his crew. His idea to help us was simple. Take Elysium under our protection, making our attack a kind of self-defence. After doing that we went to Elysium, finding Freya, being thankful for our help, and seemingly stressed over the whole situation. We immediately went after the attackers. Luckily, I had gotten some new weapons from a recent nether expedition, giving us the upper hand. It especially came in handy, against their healers. After seeing all the destruction they had left, we spotted Desmond’s ship, hoping to bring him to justice. But we only found more crewmembers, but no Leader. Carried by anger, we went on a widespread search along the whole pirate island, while Kleckser went to the council so that he could get a better grasp on the situation as well as inform the council about what is going on. When he got back, we hadn’t found a single trace of Desmond, but he got more information. We went to my Base to make sure, that no one was listening in. On our way there we saw something that Timmy had apparently build. I must say, it’s weird to see such a piece of modern art in a world like this…

When we got to my base, we went into the newly renovated basement. Here, Kleckser started explaining that he talked to Rose. Now, as Desmond is Rose’s pirate lord, I finally got a name for the crimson Ruby. When he talked to her, he informed her of what was going on, and that we wanted Desmond to pay. She accepted, as this attack wasn’t connected to the council in any way, and she knew as well that attacking another pirate’s territory was forbidden. She promised that she would hand him over to us once he returns, as long as we wouldn’t kill him. Before sending the others home, I used the opportunity I had to test out some of the new weapons I found in the Nether. The most powerful being a bow called Ragnarok. It summoned multiple lightning bolts from the sky, and if targets stood close enough together, the lighting bolts would jump from one target to the next. This weapon even made Kayden call me Thor, because of the power it held. In a last attempt to find Desmond, everyone actually went towards Iatros tree in hopes to ask Jane for more information. But she wasn’t there yet, marking the end of our nightly adventure.

More importantly for myself there was an incident at my base last week. Someone has been looking around, as my notebook wasn’t where I left it. From now on I’ll keep it close to me. It’s also time to start the next phase on project W, as I finally got some coordinates…
