Case 9 (Old Friend?)

I didn’t want to believe my eyes, but what I was seeing was the truth. There he stood. Smiling at me like everything he did in the past never happened. After a few minutes of silence, he answered my question. Joe: “Alive isn’t the right word to describe my current position. As to how I ended up in this position that’s why I’m here detective.” I stopped my thoughts about what happened in the past and started to inspect him. Alive really wasn’t the right term to use for his situation. He was partially see-through what meant that he could be some kind of ghost. The really weird part is that the frequency of the world seems to be in a constant change around his body. Like he isn’t supposed to be here. I decided to think more about his situation. Maybe something in my old memories could help, but I couldn’t find anything valuable. I asked him what the last thing was that he remembered. Joe: “The last thing I remember is that you rats decided to stop me. And after you were so arrogant to think that you really could defeat me, I decided to leave this world in search for a new one to rule. After that I only remember waking up in this condition.” It seems that the same thing that happened to me and the others also happened to him. But he was the one that opened the portal, where most people didn’t even want to end up here. He wanted to willingly end up here. But what about his situation was different than ours that he ended up in this situation? I probably need more of my lost memories to find out what happened to him. That’s also what I told him. But I still had more questions for him. But I just asked the one that seemed most important to me. “When did he wake up in this world and how did he even find us?”. Joe: “To answer your first question, I woke up around three weeks ago. And to answer your second question, it was pretty easy to find you. After all, not everybody falls of a cliff and survives it. After that I just followed you. So, he saw me fall from the cliff. That means he was the one that was watching me one my way home and not D. Or maybe both of them watched me, as it seems that I can’t really feel Joes presence. Before ending today’s inspection, I quickly asked one more question. What was he going to do now that he knows where we live? Joe: “Relax little Slime. I can’t do anything. Neither to you, nor your friends. It seems that you are one of the only things in this world that can even see me. And I can’t even interact with the beings of this world. So, you don’t have to worry about a thing for now. But as you are the only one that can see me, I will probably follow you, as this “new life” can get really boring. I’m also somewhat interested in the one that pushed you down that cliff. This is all you need to know for now old friend.” Well, at least he isn’t planning on hurting anyone for now. But I should still keep an eye on him, so it’s a good thing that he is staying close. But to think that he would also be interested in knowing more about D. After the conversation I felt how tired I was. I decided to let Joe stay on my ship as it would be better than having him roam around freely. He decided to claim the crow nest for himself as it had the best view. I decided to just leave it at that and went to sleep.
